DSLR Decisions

I’m having serious trouble deciding which way to go on an entry-level DSLR. I’m not ready to buy just yet but it would be nice to have the camera picked out. Went to Best Buy today and fondled the Nikon’s and Canon’s. Sony too but the battery was dead on the one I really wanted to try out. Really liked the way the Canon 50D felt and the test shots I snapped had great color and clarity. At $1500+ it’s more than I really want to spend right now. I think I was really expecting to go in and fall in love with a Nikon D60 or D90 and surprised to find that they didn’t make a bigger impression on me. Maybe I’m a Canon girl after all. Any thoughts you would like to share, by all means, please weigh in. Once I purchase one and start buying lenses, it’s pretty much a marriage. Changing later would be costly.

Subjects I typically like to shoot:

  • Dancers (low light and fast action)
  • Architecture and architectural details
  • Macro nature shots
  • My crazy pup (fast action again)
  • My significant other’s band (low light)
  • Old, old cemeteries
  • Neon signage at night (low light again)

Feel free to add comments or tweet me on Twitter. My username is Kittywink of course ;).
